JumBurrito, a quick-service restaurant, serves authentic and fresh Mexican food throughout West Texas. With six locations in two cities and a tortilla and sauce factory, they stay busy. Family owned and operated for more than 40 years, JumBurrito treats all employees like part of that family. But as their business grew, it became harder to keep up with the needs of 135 employees.
“We processed payroll and benefits in house for years," said Davidson. "After the Affordable Care Act (ACA) requirements took effect, we did not have the software to be able to track eligibility and that’s when we decided to look for outside help.”
They turned to software to manage 401(k) plans and track eligibility. The software offered a broad range of features and services, but it wasn’t optimized for payroll and benefits. Needing something more efficient, they searched for better.

JumBurrito wanted all their employees to have access to their information and benefits at any time. With employee self-service, they can see their hire date and know when they’re eligible for insurance, 401(k) or vacation.
“The self-service portal lets employees see all we have to offer, and they can see our matching contributions," said Davidson. "The year-end summaries allow them to also see other benefits like free employee meals, employer paid taxes and 401(k) contribution.”
Seeing how isolved made a difference in one employee’s life was important. One long-term employee had been contributing to their 401(k) for years, but they didn’t have access to a computer at home and their previous provider didn’t send out quarterly summaries by mail. As a result, they were unable to access their account or see their balance. They were surprised to see how much they had contributed each week and that JumBurrito had matched it dollar for dollar.
“I showed them how to see their year-to-date amount on their last paycheck, and they were blown away by the amount they were saving annually," said Davidson. "When we logged onto their account, they almost cried knowing they had savings for retirement.”
This employee now has direct access to the app on their phone, allowing them to view their weekly paychecks and see exactly where their money is going. It’s these small things that make the biggest difference.
