Genuine care is at the heart of everything that Mountainview Nursing Home does. The nonprofit nursing care center treats those in need, regardless of their ability to pay or the severity of treatment needs.  With a deep, intuitive understanding of what care truly means, they expected to receive the same treatment from their human capital management (HCM) partner, Paycom. Unfortunately, they found that Paycom didn’t understand what treating others with care really means.

The makeup of Mountainview’s 85 employees is a mix of full-time and part-time hourly employees, with some salaried managers and registered nurses. This mix results in a complicated payroll process. According to Lisa Corrigan, an HR Administrative Assistant with Mountainview, Paycom wasn’t much help with their payroll.

Mountainview’s HR team looked to streamline payroll and become more competitive in a tight labor market by offering employees more control, whether that come in the form of on-demand pay or self-service benefits. They found the right human resources (HR) partner in isolved.

Before partnering with isolved, Corrigan and her team were navigating through the complexities of HR without any support or guidance. With their previous HR partner, “We didn’t matter much because we weren’t a big fish, we were a little fish,” according to Corrigan. Now, “With isolved, I don’t feel like that. Almost every time I run into an issue, I can get a resolution immediately, which is immensely important. It gives me a great sense of security,” Corrigan says.

With a complex mix of full-time, part-time, salaried and hourly employees, payroll was previously a big lift for Corrigan and the team, including certain deductions and rules that were tied to a multitude of factors. Luckily, isolved has automated the process, removing the headache from processing payroll.

Retention woes have plagued organizations for years—and Corrigan is optimistic that providing employees with self-service capabilities will help with employee retention and recruiting moving forward.
