It’s not uncommon for superheroes to come together – whether they meet up at headquarters to strategize, a fortress to train or a lair to simply enjoy each other’s company. People Heroes are no different.
Most recently, People Heroes – which is what we call HR, payroll and benefits professionals – united in Palm Desert at isolved Connect. The conference gave hundreds of like-minded professionals an opportunity to collaborate, sharpen their skillsets and prepare their businesses for the future of work. In case you weren’t able to make it to Connect, we’ve put together six top takeaways from the event below:
Mental Agility is Key
Author, Artist and Entrepreneur Erik Wahl kicked off isolved Connect with an inspirational keynote that emphasized the importance of mental adaptability for both personal and professional success. His unique perspective was relatable and memorable. Plus, he used painting to showcase the importance of taking risks and thinking outside of the box to achieve better business outcomes.
EX’s Direct Impact on CX
How important is employee experience (EX)? Ninety percent of employees say it impacts the experience they give customers. This means EX could be the difference between a sale and a customer who never wants to come back. During his Future of Work presentation, isolved’s Chief Strategy Officer James Norwood previewed this stat (and more) from the third annual Voice of the Workforce report, which was launched during Connect.
AI is Coming Together with HR
Already delivering on the AI roadmap that was launched in Q2, isolved previewed extended AI capabilities during Connect – including isolved Analytics Everywhere™, which embeds AI-powered predictive and prescriptive analytics in the day-to-day workflows of HR teams; AI-powered candidate and job matching, which simplifies Ben Eubanks, Chief Research Officer at Lighthouse Research & Advisory
“isolved HCM has put a heavy emphasis on AI with their public commitment, and the customers I spoke with on site were excited about the potential that AI can bring for more personalized, human-focused HR practices.”
- Ben Eubanks, Chief Research Officer at Lighthouse Research & Advisory

Empowering the Next Generation of Leaders
During the Women in Leadership panel, isolved’s Chief People Officer Amy Mosher, Chief Product Officer Pragya Malhorta and Chief Experience Officer Lina Tonk came together with People Heroes Bridget Escobar and Stephanie Westphal to discuss empowering others and balancing the many responsibilities unique to women who take on multiple roles professionally and personally. One of the standout quotes came from Amy Mosher, noting that there is a distinction between quitting and repositioning – because leaving a job does not mean giving up.
Safety and Compliance are Top Priorities
In an unforgettable keynote from Sapient Insight’s Chief Research Officer Stacey Harris, People Heroes learned just how important compliance is to the success of their enterprise. Stacey also discussed how small businesses and mid-market organizations are viewing themselves as more strategic, which aligns with data from isolved’s HR Leaders Survey that revealed 83 percent of HR leaders feel like their team is considered a strategic part of the business.
Learning and Networking Unite!
Perhaps the biggest takeaway from People Heroes at Connect? Getting together for three days of education and collaboration is invaluable. Here are some standout quotes:
“I absolutely love isolved Connect. I get to network with friends and people in the industry. There are so many great sessions to learn from, so it’s a pretty awesome time.”
- Jason Poling, Tennessee President of Dominion Payroll
"I loved to hear how others are using isolved as well as learning so much at each session! It is always uplifting. I love the idea board and the fact that you really pull info and implement some of the suggestions!"
- Lisa Walker, HR Manager at Rocky Mountain Diabetes Center
