The law firm had previously looked to transform its HR function with another payroll service but met frequent roadblocks to success. According to Sara Busch, the Payroll and Benefits Administrator for the company who had previously dealt with the former payroll service, recurring obstacles created the onus for change. “The customer service wasn’t hands-on and it was really hard to get a hold of anyone or get the appropriate assistance I needed,” Busch says. 

Not only did the customer service leave the company wanting more, but a disconnect in systems halted any progress. According to Busch, “Things in general seemed very disconnected. Whatever part of the system you were using was not talking to the other part, and it left a lot of room for error.”

Previously, the company manually tracked things like paid time off (PTO) and would have to manually check who was working and who was taking time off.
“I don’t know how we did it,” marvels Busch. Putting things like PTO down to paper leaves a lot of room for error—and isolved’s PTO tracking made an immediate difference. Ultimately, Busch’s vision for the company’s HR is to build a one-stop shop. She acknowledged that it will take complete buy-in from every employee, which can take time. Luckily, tools like employee self-service and access to more information will accelerate the process.
